![]() ![]() Dressed in colorful flower crowns and rainbow capes, festival attendees munched on fried dough and Italian ice while they enjoyed booths full of giveaways, signed petitions, and considered rainbow merchandise. The parade meandered from Copley Square all the way to City Hall Plaza, and culminated in a festival and concert headlined by Martha Wash of “It’s Raining Men” fame, as well as hip hop musician Big Freedia. Parade floats blasted pop music, Darth Vader and Deadpool marched proudly in costume, and onlookers cheered as they clambered up buildings and fences to get a better view. ![]() The parade featured guests of every age, race, gender, and sexual orientation, from motorcyclists, to drag queens, to dads and daughters. This year’s theme was “Rainbow Resistance,” a call to action to protect oppressed minorities of the LGBTQ community and beyond, as well as a reminder to don recognizably multi-colored attire. Hundreds of rainbow-clad marchers assembled in Copley Square Saturday morning, hoisting banners and waving brightly colored flags as they prepared for the 48th annual Boston Pride Parade and Festival. City of Boston, Rutherford Institute attorneys argue that the City of Boston erroneously applied the government speech doctrine and violated the First Amendment when it prohibited a Judeo-Christian organization from flying a religious flag on a city hall flagpole while allowing hundreds of other flags, including those promoting gay pride. |
